Ademium basics

Ademium obesum is commonly known as the Desert Rose. This plant is native to Africa and parts of Arabia.

Water Requirements

Rot will occur in continuously damp soil. We recommend fast-draining, nutrient rich soil of equal part potting mix, perlite & small bark. Avoid reusing soil as it increases the fungal risk.

Ademium Safety

All parts of the desert rose are poisonous. However, it is very hard to ingest any plant parts as the sap is extremely bitter. Never attempt to ingest any part of an Adenium obesum and always supervise children around the plants.

Sun Requirements

Full sun. Part shade is also tolerated however, flowers may be smaller. They can be kept inside in a sunny spot & will require weekly turning to avoid bending toward the light.
